ROBERT QUINN “QUINNO”
Robert Stephen Quinn passed away Monday, May15, 2006 after a brief illness in Savannah, Georgia.
Born in Bridgeport, Ct on August 14, 1925 to the late Harry P. Quinn and Margaret Havrilla Quinn, he graduated from St. Charles Parochial School in Bridgeport and attended Fairfield Preparatory School as a member of the first graduating class before enlisting in the Navy at age 17.
He served his country with great pride in the South Pacific during World War II and returned to graduate from Bryant College in Providence, R.I.
A consummate people person, Quinno spent most of his career in broadcast and sales and retail management. He was a beloved fixture at Klein’s of Westport, from which he retired in 1993 after 20 years.
Quinno was active in his community and in the lives of his children, participating in Indian Guides, Little League and PTA events. He will be fondly remembered for his robust croquet games that took place at his home on Penfield Road. He was a past member of the Patterson Club in Fairfield and a current member of the Landings Club on Skidaway Island, Ga.
He retired to Savannah in 1993 where he enjoyed a very full and active life playing golf and living life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife Ann Stoddart Quinn to whom he would have been married 50 years in September, his son and daughter in law, Brendan and Jane and their daughter Meghan of Monroe, CT, daughter and son in law, Stacey and Andrew Pskowski and their children Henry and Eleanor of Cornwall, NY, son and daughter in law, David and Shayla and their children Garrett and Austin of Sandy Hook, CT, and daughter and son in law, Margaret and John Mahoney of Belmar, NJ. He is also survived by his sister in law, Mary-Louise Quinn of Fairfield, CT, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Quinn Trojanowski, Betty Quinn Grant and Dorothy Quinn Power and brother, H. Peter Quinn.
Memorial Services will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Savannah, GA, on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11 a.m. A celebration of Quinno’s life will be held in Fairfield at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on the Post Road on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10 a.m.
